No, Elizabeth Does Not Take Risperdal

There’s a fringe conspiracy theory floating around the internet alleging that Elizabeth takes Risperdal, an antipsychotic drug used to treat schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and irritability caused by autism. While Risperdal is a legitimate medication with important uses, Elizabeth has never been prescribed this drug, nor has she ever taken it. Politifact has weighed in on this bogus claim and rated it “false.

Mental health care is important, and people should be able to receive the treatment they need. That’s why Elizabeth successfully pushed for a $160 million increase in funding for the Mental Health Block Grant. She’s also introduced a bill to strengthen mental health parity laws, which would hold insurers accountable for providing adequate mental health benefits, and is a strong supporter of the Affordable Care Act, which guarantees coverage for mental health services.
